Nani Gelovani is an Orientalist-historian, doctor of historical sciences and professor of the teaching-scholarly Institute of Oriental Studies at the faculty of Humanities at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. Her major research interests include Muslim community of Tbilisi, Islam and Gender; she has authored 4 monographs and up to 100 scholarly papers. In 2022 Nani Gelovani won the World Award for Book of the Year of the Islamic Republic of Iran for her monograph - Muslim Community of Tbilisi (1801-1917).
