The first geographical names on the territory of contemporary Abkhazia formed in accordance with the norms of Abkhazian (Apsua) language appeared from the beginning of the 16^th century. The survey of the historical change of toponyms evidences that the statements according to which the Abkhazians (the Apsua) are the only indigenous population on this territory, appear to be incorrect.
